Mexico’s billet production weakens in December
Mexican billet output decreased sequentially in December 2023. Output, however, was higher compared with a year earlier, Kallanish notes.
According to preliminary data from local statistics provider Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi), Mexico produced 160,813 tonnes of billet in December. This was a fall of 1.2% from November’s volume of 162,723t but 2,136t more compared with the same month in 2023.
