Indian scrap imports jump on bulk bookings
Indian scrap imports surged 63% on-year to 8.38 million tonnes in January-December 2022 against 5.13mt a year earlier, Kallanish notes from Indian commerce ministry provisional data.
This significant rise in imports is mainly attributed to the consecutive bulk bookings done by Indian scrap importers, starting from the second half of 2022.
