Indian scrap imports rise in June
Indian scrap imports surged 49% on-year to 676,820 tonnes in June versus 453,960t imported a year ago, according to customs data monitored by Kallanish.
India imported 558,170t of "other" steel scrap under HS code 720449, which mainly includes HMS, mixed motor scrap and LMS.
Other major categories imported include 87,300t of stainless steel scrap, 13,190t of alloy scrap, 10,820t of cast iron scrap, and 7,100t of turnings, bundles, chips.
