Indian scrap imports increase in May
Indian scrap imports surged 70% on-year to 781,180 tonnes in May versus 460,490t imported a year ago, according to customs data monitored by Kallanish.
India imported 636,720t of "other" steel scrap under HS code 720449, which mainly includes HMS, mixed motor scrap, and LMS.
Other major categories imported include 99,980t of stainless-steel scrap, 21,926t of alloy scrap, 13,690t of cast iron scrap, and 8,768t of turnings, bundles, chips, etc.
