US steel production increases on-week, down on-year
Weekly raw steel production in the US for the week ended 4 May was 1.709 million short tons with a capacity utilisation rate of 77%, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute. Raw steel production increased by 0.5% week-on-week. In the week ended 27 April, raw production was 1.701m st and utilisation was 76.6%.
The latest figure represents a 2.9% decrease from the equivalent period of 2023 when production was 1.760m st, and utilisation was 78.2%.…
