Brazil’s steel exports, imports slow in April
Brazil saw its steel exports decrease month-on-month in April. Shipments abroad, however, were higher year-on-year, Kallanish notes. The country continues to reduce its dependence on imported products.
According to local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB)’s latest data, imports were down 8.7% m-o-m to 222,654 tonnes in April, and 37.4% lower compared to 355,648t a year earlier.
