Brazil’s January steel exports rise, imports decline
Brazil saw finished steel exports improve sequentially and year-on-year in January, according to data from the local steelmakers association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB) monitored by Kallanish. Imports at the beginning of 2024 remain down.
Brazil’s January steel exports increased 14.8% on-month to 967,478 tonnes and were 1.8% higher y-o-y. Semi-finished steel comprised 769,744t, up 31.8% over the previous month but 0.3% weaker y-o-y.
