US plate market remains active, prices firm
Plate prices are holding firm in an active US market. Buyers, however, anticipate a softening in business conditions and prices in the first quarter of the new year.
“I still feel good about the fourth quarter, as business remains brisk,” says one US buyer. “There is a feeling that the first quarter may be challenging,” he adds.
Kallanish held its A36 assessment Monday at $1,650-1,680/short ton. All prices are ex-works, domestic mill.
