Rising Chinese scrap prices spur shipments
Chinese scrap prices have seen significant growth as steel mill profits recovered and steel production resumed. However, late last week, futures slipped and scrap prices weakened.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 2,970/tonne ($440/t), including VAT. This is down CNY 10/t from Thursday but CNY 170/t higher compared with the previous Friday.
