US scrap expected to remain strong in January
US domestic scrap price negotiations for December trading wrapped up last week with more mills accepting prices that were higher than initial bids, notes Kallanish.
Although the initial bid by a Midwestern mill appeared at $50/gross ton higher versus November for prime scrap, the grade settled last week up $90/gt in the Midwest, $80/gt in Chicago and $50/gt in the Southeast, meaning $50-90/gt in general.
