US rig count rises, Canada's falls
The North American rig count ticked up during the week ended 8 April, as the US increased oil and gas drilling while Canada continued to remove rigs from operation, according to the latest weekly report from energy services firm Baker Hughes.
The total North American rig count rose by three net rigs week-on-week to a total of 800. This is 310 more active rigs than were operating at this time last year, Kallanish notes.
