US drops a dozen rigs; Canada loses 1
The US rig count for the week ended 18 August decreased by 12 week-on-week, bringing the total to 642. Canada lost one rig, dropping its count to 189, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.
Of the US total rigs, 520 are for oil and 117 are for gas. The remaining rigs were classified as miscellaneous. This is a decrease of 120 from the equivalent week last year.
