US drops 5 rigs, Canada gains 2

The US rig count for the week ended 11 August decreased by five week-on-week, bringing the total to 654. Canada gained two rigs, boosting its count to 190, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes. All five of the lost US rigs were for natural gas drilling. Of the US total rigs, 525 are for oil and 123 are for gas. The remaining rigs were classified as miscellaneous. This is a decrease of 109 from the equivalent week last year…
