Taiwanese scrap extends declines
Taiwan's scrap market extended its decline this week, with weaker scrap prices in Asia leading to lower scrap import prices in Taiwan.
Major Taiwanese steel mill Feng Hsin Iron & Steel has kept its scrap purchasing prices and rebar sales prices unchanged this week. Its HMS 1 scrap purchase price was TWD 10,700/t ($340/t), while the list price for #5 (5/8 inches or 15.875mm nominal diameter base) rebar was TWD 19,400/t ($616) ex-works.
