Nippon Steel completes steelmaking coal business acquisition

Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel has completed the acquisition of a 20% interest in the steelmaking coal business in Canada sold by Canadian natural resources company Teck Resources, Kallanish notes.  On 14 November, 2023, Nippon Steel decided to indirectly acquire a 20% interest in Elk Valley Resources (EVR), the steelmaking coal business partnership being sold by Teck Resources.
