Longer stoppage, construction weakness hampers Cognor's third-quarter performance
Cognor posted 33% lower on-year revenue in the third quarter at PLN 499.5 million ($123.5m), while net profit plummeted 77% to PLN 30.1m. Construction sector demand weakened, while the Polish firm’s Krakow rolling mill revamp and therefore production stoppage is lasting longer than expected, Kallanish notes.
The steelmaker says it hopes the steel market has now bottomed and it plans to restart the Krakow rolling mill at the beginning of December.
