Italian steel production falls in 2023
Italian crude steel output rose in December by 6.5% year-on-year to 1.3 million tonnes, according to data issued by local steelmakers association Federacciai.
In full-year 2023, however, production fell by 2.5% on-year to 21mt, Kallanish notes.
Flat steel production decreased by 3.9% to 615,000t last month and by 0.1% to 9.5mt in 2023. Longs output rose by 5% to 694,000t and fell by 2.9% to 11.6mt respectively in December and 2023.
