Italian scrap prices decline
Italian scrap prices are falling for January delivery by €10-20/tonne (€11-22) compared to December for the high automotive grades such as new arisings E8, and by €30/t for the lower grades. The fall is proving to be less steep than anticipated.
December saw a substantial price rise in Italy when mills pushed up their purchasing values to the peaks seen in July. Last month, Italian scrap prices were the highest in Europe, Kallanish notes.
