Indian steel production grows on consumption, export uptick

Improving domestic steel consumption and finished steel exports helped Indian steel production grow in April, according to a Joint Plant Committee report seen by Kallanish. The nation’s domestic steel consumption grew 8% on-year to 9.95 million tonnes in April against 9.21mt for April 2022, whereas finished steel exports also increased 12.5% to 0.85mt during the period.
