Brazil's January steel production rises, except for semis
Brazil saw crude-steel and rolled-products volumes increase month-on-month and year-on-year in January, Kallanish notes.
According to data issued by the national steelmakers association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB), January crude steel output totalled 2.72 million tonnes, up 8.1% on the previous month and 0.4% more on-year.
Almost 76.2% of Brazilian output during the month was produced by the basic oxygen furnace process, providing 2.07mt of steel.
