Brazil’s March iron exports rise, current prices drop
Brazilian pig iron exports rose sharply in March, according to the latest Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (Mdic) report monitored by Kallanish. The data includes sponge iron and iron or steel powder together with pig iron exports.
Brazil exported 373,000 tonnes of pig iron in March, up 25.7% month-on-month and 62.3% higher year-on-year. Three-month shipments however reached 608,981t, down 3.8% compared to January-March 2021.
