ASEAN billet prices plunge on China weakness
The billet import market in ASEAN has plunged, Kallanish notes. The market mood is negative as traders are actively floating low-priced Chinese billet export offers in the past week.
Offers for 5sp 150mm blast furnace open-origin square billet from China for May shipment were heard at around $515/tonne cfr Manila, market sources say. This is $20/t lower compared to offers of open-origin ASEAN/China billet during the week through 8 March.
