ASEAN imported longs firm, Chinese wire rod flattens
The ASEAN import market for wire rod and rebar is firm as suppliers continue to press for price hikes. Trading is thin as buyers are resisting paying up for steel.
Tangshan, China-origin low-carbon 6.5mm diameter non-alloy wire rod is offered at as low as $625/tonne cfr Manila. A Philippine trader reports hearing an under 1,000-tonne cargo booked on Thursday at this level. The April shipment lot could possibly be a position cargo, he adds.
