ArcelorMittal evaluates temporary layoffs in Spain: unions
ArcelorMittal has told trade unions in Spain it is planning to start negotiations on a new layoff scheme to secure flexibility for the coming months, as demand remains uncertain.
Until December 2021, the company had an active temporary layoff scheme (ERTE) which it used only partially. A new scheme could give the company the possibility to implement production reductions or temporary stoppages going forward, if needed.
