SCANDIUM: Rio Tinto building $6m scandium oxide plant in Quebec
Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto is announcing plans to become the first producer of high-quality scandium in North America from mining wastes, Kallanish reports.
Construction is underway on a new commercial-scale demonstration plant at its Rio Tinto Fer Et Titane metallurgical complex in Soret-Tracy, Quebec, and the company expects first commercial production of scandium oxide in second quarter 2021.
