RARE EARTH: Rio Tinto commissions scandium demonstration plant in Quebec

Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto announces has started operations at a new commercial-scale demonstration plant to produce high-quality scandium oxide in Quebec, Kallanish reports. The plant is at the Rio Tinto Fer et Titane (RTFT) complex in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, and it makes Rio Tinto the first producer of high-quality scandium in North America from mining wastes.
