LITHIUM: Rio Tinto may face referendum on Jadar project in Serbia
Rio Tinto may face a referendum in Serbia on its developing Jadar lithium project as local opposition grows, Kallanish understands.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reportedly said the government supports the project but won’t let it happen without the approval of mine neighbours. The proposed referendum or vote could be called in local municipalities or at the district level, he indicates.
