General Motors to prepay Livent $198m for guaranteed lithium supply
General Motors is prepaying Livent Corp $198 million in advance for a guaranteed lithium hydroxide supply for its electric vehicles, Kallanish understands.
The companies had announced the long-term supply deal on 26 July, 2022, but Livent on Tuesday announced the financial terms of the six-year agreement that begins in 2025. It expects to get the $198m payment from General Motors this year. Such cash prepayments are unusual.
