Fortum, Terrafame to start battery recycling cooperation in Finland
Finnish companies Fortum and Terrafame are planning an experimental recycling project, as a step toward the creation of a battery cluster in the Nordic country, Kallanish reports.
They agreed to use recovered nickel and cobalt from black mass of used EV batteries in new batteries, and then recycle the material again once the batteries reach end of life. The cooperation is starting this month but should span “several years.”
