South East Asia Steel Markets Report - Week 25 (June 23, 2021)

Read the Kallanish South East Asia Report - Week 26, published 23rd June 2021.  This is a weekly subscription report analysing production, flats, longs, semis, and raw materials for the region.  Additionally, the production section includes brand new data series monitoring hot metal production activity in the region at the blast furnace level.

  • Production: Southeast Asian blast furnaces have seen fluctuating activity levels over the last week. In Malaysia, Alliance Steel has seen another reduction in activity.
  • Flats: The Vietnamese import market for hot rolled coil was quiet last week as users turned to domestic supply instead.
  • Longs: Southeast Asian rebar markets continue to languish on weak demand. Suppliers are, however, maintaining their offers for imports.
  • Semis: The Southeast Asian billet market saw certain suppliers hike offers last week. However, regional buying interest was thin.
  • Raw Materials: South Korea’s Hyundai Steel has raised its bid for high-grade scrap this week.
