Welspun commissions new blast furnace, rolling mill facilities
Welspun Corp (WCL) has commissioned its 500,000 tonnes/year hot metal production capacity blast furnace, 400,000 t/y capacity ductile iron pipe plant and 350,000 t/y capacity rolling mill at its Anjar unit in Gujarat.
The hot metal produced from the new blast furnace will be primarily used for manufacturing pig iron and ductile iron (DI) pipe. Trial production of DI pipe has also started and the facility has recently received BIS certification, Kallanish notes.
