Vietnam fears retaliation after steel export surge
Vietnam saw its exports grow further in the first five months of 2017, Kallanish notes. The country could face growing trade measures if growth rates are sustained however, the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) warns.
Vietnam exported 1.4 million tonnes of steel products over January-May, up 35% year-on-year. Exports could hit around 4mt this year, with volumes going to Southeast Asia, the USA and the European Union, VSA says.
