US Steel announces record first quarter
US Steel has posted its highest ever first quarter earnings, Kallanish reports. The company credits its mini-mill expansions, high steel prices, and consistently high demand.
The earnings of $882 million on sales of $5.23 billion is up 869% from Q1 2021, which had earnings of $91m on sales of $3.66 billion.
Average flat-rolled pricing increased from $888/short ton in 2021 to $1,368/st in 2022.
