US scrap market outlook remains firm

Prospects for March trading in the US scrap market remain firm as sentiment has improved following Turkish mills’ return to the scrap market last week, Kallanish notes.
Although Turkey’s absence from the market following the devastating earthquake, and the subsequent sharp drop in US-origin scrap prices raised concerns, US market participants seem confident now that prices will remain firm. Demand from Turkey is strong and prices are increasing.
