US rigs rise by 9, Canada up 8
Both the US and Canadian rig counts increased in the week ended 13 August, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.
The US rig count increased by nine net rigs to 500, or 256 above the equivalent count last year.
Rigs geared for oil production increased by 10, and the US lost one rig geared for natural gas production.
