The US rig count moved up in the week ended 19 March, while the Canadian rig count posted a double-digit loss, Kallanish reports.

The US rig count increased by nine net rigs to 411, down 361 from last year’s equivalent weekly count.

Rigs geared for oil constituted the entirety of the increase. New Mexico led the notable net increases by state with seven, while Texas posted the lone net loss with one.

The Canadian count, meanwhile, fell by 24 net rigs to 92, down just six from last year.
