US rigs rise by 8, Canada down 9
The US and Canadian rig counts moved in nearly equal but opposite directions in the week ended 18 December, Kallanish learns from energy services firm Baker Hughes.
The US rig count increased by eight net rigs to 346, still down 467 from the equivalent week last year.
Rigs geared for oil production increased by five, while rigs geared for natural gas production increased by two. The US also gained one rig classified as miscellaneous.
