US rigs rise by 3, Canada down 8
The US rig count perked up during the week ended 20 August, while the Canadian count retreated, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.
The US rig count increased by three net rigs to 503, down 249 from last year.
Rigs geared for oil production rose by eight, offset by a loss of five natural gas rigs.
Louisiana led the notable net increases by state with two. Texas and West Virginia posted the lone net losses of one each.
