US rigs rise 15, Canada up 41
Both the US and Canadian rig counts saw double-digit increases in the week ended 17 January, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.
The US rig count rose by 15 net rigs to 796, down 254 from the equivalent count last year.
Rigs geared for oil production rose by 14, while rigs geared for natural gas production rose by one.
Texas led the notable net gains by state with five, while Louisiana led the losses with one.
