US rigs increase by 15, Canada up 7
Both the US and Canadian rig counts posted increases in the week ended 22 July, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.
The US rig count increased by 15 net rigs for a total of 462, still down 414 from last year’s equivalent count.
Rigs geared for oil production increased by 14, while rigs geared for natural gas production fell by one. The US also gained two rigs classified as miscellaneous.
Texas led the notable gains by state with 15, while Louisiana led the losses with two.
The Canadian count, meanwhile, increased by seven net rigs to 102, down 98 from last year.
