US plate pricing holds steady, downstream demand slow
US plate prices are flat for a third consecutive week, with market participants telling Kallanish that activity is lacklustre and probably will remain so for the foreseeable future.
Spot pricing for carbon steel plate remains in a range of $1,040-1,100/short ton, sources report.
“No change in anything at all. Same pricing,” observes an East Coast distributor. “Lead times may have slid. … Demand is tepid at best.”
