US plate pricing ends year at record high
The US plate market is ending 2021 with record high prices and mixed expectations on the direction prices will head in the new year.
Plate prices began the year around $965/short ton, having started to rise towards the end of 2020. By mid-year, pricing had jumped to $1,410/st. Prices have been stable at $1,830-1,880/st since mid-November and are now ending the year at that all-time high level. Prices are for standard A36 plate, ex-works, domestic mill.
