US plate stays steady, higher prices likely
Plate prices in the US market remain elevated but steady on solid demand and discipline from domestic mills. The likelihood of higher pricing is increasing as scrap prices and international freight rates are on the rise.
Kallanish’s weekly A36 plate price assessment is unchanged this week at $1,800-1,850/short ton, ex-works mill. Prices have remained at these all-time highs since the fourth quarter of last year.
