US plate prices hold, lead times shorten
Plate prices are holding at all-time highs in the US, but business is slowing and the market is anticipating lower prices with the arrival of the new year.
The weekly A36 plate assessment maintained by Kallanish was unchanged on Monday at $1,830-1,880/short ton, ex-works, domestic mill. Prices have been rising steadily through most of the year and are up from just $785/st one year ago.
Lead times for plate have started to shorten and are now in the 4-5 week range…
