US plate market not absorbing recent price hike
A recent push to increase plate prices by at least one mill has yet to take hold in the US market as speculation continues that prices may have already peaked.
The A36 plate price assessment maintained by Kallanish was held Monday at $1,650-1,680/short ton, ex-works, domestic mill.
Import offers are coming in at much lower numbers, and that should stall any further increases in pricing, one Midwest buyer tells Kallanish.
