UK should support domestic DRI-making: thinktank

The UK should earmark £2.1-3.5 billion ($2.7-4.4 billion) of funding for establishing 5 million tonnes/year of hydrogen-based direct reduced iron capacity and 4.4mt of low-emissions primary steel capacity, according to climate change thinktank E3G. Moreover, 3.78m t/y of additional secondary steel capacity should be set up. Funding should also be ringfenced from the clean steel fund for the development of new technologies for green iron and steel production.…
