UAW wins landmark US vote at Volkswagen
The United Autoworkers (UAW) labour union has established its first beachhead at a foreign-owned automaker in the South.
UAW Local 42 will now represent 152 skilled trades employees at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga, Tennessee, plant after 71% of the eligible employees voted affirmative. The majority of union steel and automakers are in the upper Midwest and Northeast US, Kallanish notes.
