UAW members authorize strike if contract talks fail
Members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) labour union have authorized their leadership to call a strike if negotiations with the largest automakers do not result in a satisfactory agreement, Kallanish learns.
Approximately 97% of UAW’s membership voted in favor of a strike authorization, the union says. Talks are ongoing with the Big Three auto manufacturers, with the existing contracts expiring in mid-September.
