Turkish shipbreaking scrap continues fall, domestic mostly stable
Turkish mills have mostly kept their domestic scrap buying prices unchanged since last week, despite a continuing decrease in import prices, Kallanish notes.
Mills are suffering from high energy and imported scrap costs, and decreasing steel prices, which are squeezing their margins. As a result, some producers are considering to buy cheap imported billet while others are halting production.
