High costs, lower demand squeeze Turkish long steelmakers

Turkish long steel producers are seen facing a serious fall in export demand this week following the recovery last week. Long steel export prices, however, have increased significantly despite the slowdown in demand. This is because scrap and billet prices are increasing. On Thursday, Turkish mills’ export quotes for rebar were mostly at $710-720/tonne fob Turkey actual weight. This points to a sharp rise as offers last week were at around $640-660/t fob. Iā€¦
